Rey Ramsey
Rey Ramsey is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of One Economy Corporation founded in 2000. One Economy is a multi-national nonprofit organization that brings broadband to the homes of low-income people and provides a multilingual web portal called The Beehive (www.thebeehive.org). This website provides people with information and services ranging from education, health, to employment. Through his leadership, One Economy has helped bring broadband into the homes of more than 200,000 low-income people, and more than 9 million people have utilized One Economy’s online educational and asset-building content on its self-help website, the Beehive (www.thebeehive.org). Mr. Ramsey has spent years creating innovative partnerships between nonprofits, government and the private sector. He has been featured in numerous publications and was named among “50 Great Leaders” by Oregon Business magazine. Mr. Ramsey is the author, with Ben Hecht, of ManagingNonprofits.org: Dynamic Management for the Digital Age (John Wiley & Sons). Prior to the founding of One Economy, Mr. Ramsey served as President and Chief Operating Officer of The Enterprise Foundation. Prior to his joining Enterprise, Mr. Ramsey served in the cabinets of two governors of Oregon as the state’s Director of Housing and Community Services and practiced law. Mr. Ramsey serves on many boards, including the Schnitzer Investment Corporation, Washington Jesuit Academy and the Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC). He is the immediate past chairman of Habitat For Humanity International. He holds a B.A. in political science from Rutgers University and is a graduate of the University of Virginia Law School. |
